Spirit Lake Poetry Series is excited to kick off our 20TH SEASON with a reading by Twin Cities poet Holly Day on Saturday, October 15th, at 7:30 pm, Prøve Gallery.

A freelance writer and editor for over 25 years, Holly has published more than 7,000 articles, poems, and short stories, as well as 10 books. She has taught writing classes for both children and adults at Minneapolis’ Loft Literary Center since 2000. She writes both poetry and prose, with non-fiction publications including Music Theory for Dummies, Music Composition for Dummies, Walking Twin Cities, Insider’s Guide to the Twin Cities, and Nordeast Minneapolis: A History. Holly’s poetry has recently appeared in Indiana Voice Journal, New Ohio Review, SLAB, and Gargoyle. Her newest poetry book, Ugly Girl, was recently released from Shoe Music Press.

The Spirit Lake Poetry Series was founded 20 years ago with the goal of producing about six Duluth readings per year featuring both poets of national renown and local/regional poets with new books on the market. Funding is provided by the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council (with money in part from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund and the McKnight Foundation) and the Manitou Fund. In-kind support comes from Prøve Gallery.
