The Power of the Event

Join Prøve Collective and ceramicist Liz James for the first in our 2019 Artist-led Workshop Series. Liz James will lead a twofold presentation/workshop in the gallery. The first part of the event will be a brief presentation on how ceramics has been used as a vehicle to generate positive social and political discourse. The second part the participants will have the opportunity of finishing a bisqued cup with their own message and or imagery that addresses topics such as race, religion, gender sexuality and cultural bias. The ultimate goal is that the finished cups will live on as a bridge for engaging civil conversations about social and political issues when the participants are using the cups and discussing the images on the forms with others.

All materials will be provided. Participation is free and open to all. Space is limited to 30. If interested, please email to reserve a spot.

This event is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a 2018 Arts Learning Grant from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council, thanks to legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage funds.
